Bioenterprises: Women from Siekoya Remolino held a workshop

During the week of September 19 to 23, 2022, the team from “Fundación Raíz Ecuador” was in the Siekoya Remolino community along with Ruth Piaguaje, a scholarship recipient from the Siekopai nationality. Ruth is in the final years of her studies at the Crecermás Institute (ISTEC).

Ruth conducted a workshop in Paikoka, the native Siekopai language, aimed at the women entrepreneurs of the «Keñao» Association. Topics covered included internal administration of the association, including protocols for community work, defining roles of the board, and designating association spokespersons.

At Raíz, we recognize the importance of the sovereignty of indigenous peoples and their ability to conduct processes on their own terms.

Ruth Piaguaje benefits from the «Scholarship Fund for the Development of Products with Territorial Identity,» implemented by the Small Grants Program of Ecuador.

We thank the Small Grants Program of Ecuador, coordinated with the Support Program for the National System of Protected Areas (PASNAP) of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition of Ecuador, KFW, and the German Cooperation Agency GIZ Ecuador.
