Beyond Lagartococha, a program of the Raíz Ecuador Foundation – CAEMBA, has been supporting access to intercultural education for Siekopai (Secoya) children living in the communities of Painkenape and Mañokó in the Peruvian Amazon since 2016.
With the aim of supporting the annual pedagogical update of teachers in schools in both communities, we finance the teachers’ access to the Basic Pedagogical Competencies Development Course each year. The goal is to promote Bilingual Intercultural Education (EIB) in educational institutions in the Torres Causana district in Peru.
The course was taught by bilingual intercultural educators from the Bilingual Teacher Training Program of the Peruvian Amazon – FORMABIAP.
Several Siekopai teachers attended on behalf of the Mañokó and Painkenape communities.
