A campaign was launched to promote safe tourism in Atacames

On Thursday, December 10, 2020, the delivery of 1000 vials for PCR testing was carried out in Atacames. This is part of the campaign ‘Prevention and Containment of Covid-19 to Ensure Touristic Activity in the Atacames Canton.’ The goal is to ensure that both formal and informal tourism operators work safely during the December holidays.

This quantity is part of a total of 2000 tests that will be used by the personnel of the Atacames-Muisne Health District to conduct extensive screening of the staff working in the tourist establishments of Atacames. Tourists will also be able to undergo two types of tests: rapid and quantitative. Tents will be set up in the most touristic sites of the canton for them to approach.

It is planned to collect these samples starting from December 19, prior to the Christmas and New Year holidays. This ensures tourists arriving at the beaches of the Atacames canton that the personnel working in restaurants, huts, shops, bars, cafes, hotels, and tourist sites in general are free of Covid-19.

It is important to emphasize that Atacames maintains a low positivity rate of Covid-19, thanks to the coordinated work among several entities and under the leadership of the Raíz Ecuador Foundation – CAEMBA.
