The Community Police Unit (UPC) of Nueva Esperanza received a computer

On September 17, 2020, the Community Police Unit (UPC) of the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood in Atacames received a donation of a computer from the Raíz Foundation and a printer donated by the Paz y Desarrollo organization. This equipment will allow the UPC to fulfill all its planned functions regarding surveillance, crime prevention, and other administrative tasks.

Previously, this UPC essentially functioned as a dormitory, as it lacked the necessary technological equipment to operate properly. The UPC is located next to the Women’s Entrepreneurship House. Thanks to these donations, the community will have National Police members better equipped to combat insecurity, receive reports, conduct mediation and arbitration, among other services. The next step will be to prevent and combat domestic violence in the community.

The Raíz Foundation Ecuador and its CAEMBA project are pleased that well-being is reaching more and more marginalized families living in extreme poverty in the Atacames canton. CAEMBA aims to eliminate precarious housing in Ecuador and provide comprehensive solutions in neighborhoods like Nueva Esperanza, where hundreds of people have received their CAEMBA houses, as well as training at the Women’s Entrepreneurship House.
