Two families from Pedernales received CAEMBA houses

Between December 18th and 19th, 2020, several CAEMBA collaborators, along with volunteer families, built two CAEMBA houses for families living in extreme vulnerability and poverty. These additions join two other recently constructed homes. The construction took place in the El Aguacate area of Pedernales Canton in Manabí.

The family of Gladys Quiñonez and her five children, one of whom has epilepsy and autism, was one of the beneficiaries. Gladys still lived in a battered plastic tent, which was one of the temporary shelters provided to those who lost their homes in the 2016 earthquake.

We thank the solidarity of Lexim Abogados, the Andrade Veloz family, as well as Jorge (Coqui) Cevallos and his wife María José Vélez for this important donation that will allow Gladys and her children to live with dignity. Coqui and María José’s family participated in the construction of the homes. They were already involved in a previous construction, when two CAEMBA houses were built in the same area. Lothar Ranft’s family, also a donor, collaborated in this construction session.

The other beneficiary family is that of Mayra Karina Rojas, five months pregnant, her husband Guillermo, and their 10-year-old daughter. They also lived in a tent in El Aguacate.

The donors for this CAEMBA house were Carmen Inés Álvarez, leader of the Vip Mix Play and Joke group, who coordinated the collection of donations in this group; Asunción Ponce, George Fletcher, Claudia Aguirre, Cety Tinoco, Sara Enríquez, Heide Contag, Ana Rosa Pólit, Giulia Granata, Ana María Santacruz, Carla Barragán, Cecilia Guerrero, Goy Paz, Ana Eliss Camacho, Jorge (Coqui) Cevallos and his wife María José Vélez. We also thank Lothar Ranft and his family, as well as Xavier Ponce.

For CAEMBA, it is very gratifying to deliver these houses in such a complex time as the current one, due to the pandemic. Likewise, we are happy that these families will spend Christmas and start 2021 in their new CAEMBA homes.

We invite you to continue supporting us to fulfill our primary objective, which is the eradication of precarious housing in Ecuador. We will achieve this together as a society, as with each construction, we multiply the well-being that each family receives when they receive a dignified home, a CAEMBA home.
