“Dreams in Bamboo» is reactivated with 3 houses built in Atacames

On Saturday, June 19, 2021, was a very special day for the Raíz Ecuador Foundation – Caemba as it marked the restart of the «Dreams in Bamboo» campaign. Three houses were built in the «Las Cañitas» sector of the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood, Atacames canton. More than 40 volunteers of all ages and from various graduating classes of the American School of Quito attended the construction event.

We appreciate the generous donations and the participation of several volunteers in the construction of several houses. Thanks to the participation of Anabel Pérez and her family; Jaime Rodríguez, from San Gabriel School, who came from Switzerland to witness the construction of the house he donated; as well as David Ponce and his family, among other people who helped with the construction.

Damiana Levy, a professional belly dancer, was also present, bringing joy to the women of the neighborhood as well as the mothers and daughters of Nueva Esperanza. It was a day full of color, dance, joy, and satisfaction for the work accomplished.

Damiana Levy led a session of belly dance in which volunteer women, donors, Caemba beneficiaries, and Caemba staff participated.

History:

The «Dreams in Bamboo» campaign was introduced in November 2018 and materialized with the first constructions in February 2019. The objective, once the confinement phase due to the Covid-19 pandemic has been overcome, is to reactivate this campaign. It has been primarily focused on having graduating classes of the American School of Quito raise funds to build Caemba houses or finance other complementary constructions.

At Caemba, we continue building dreams.

We invite the graduating classes of the American School of Quito and other schools to join this Caemba initiative, with the aim of eradicating precarious housing in Ecuador through the multiplication of well-being achieved by building sustainable communities like the one we are constructing in Atacames.
